A hand carved and shaped box in stoneware with an ash green oribe glaze, blue/white highlights and with a close fitting lid. The wood firing process has added character to this piece and altered the glaze from how it appears in a normal reduction firing.
This box is formed with a technique called kurinuki. From a single block of clay the exterior form has been carved and the interior hollowed out. These have been wood fired in a reduced atmosphere to 1300 degrees centigrade and cooled over several days.
My Makers mark is on the base.
Approx 65mm x 80mm.
